Pool Pros, Inc. co-presents with Larue Pest Management, Inc. the Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce’s (GFMCC) Annual Golf Classic on October 18th at the Fort Myers Country Club.
The annual tournament, which sells out each year, continues to be the GFMCC’s most popular event and is well-known for being a fun tournament. There will be prize giveaways for competitions like the longest drive – driving a ball over a wall built by contest hole sponsor GulfPoint Construction), the longest putt, sponsored by FGCU Lutgert School of Business, and everyone’s favorite the Helicopter Ball Drop where a $3,000 prize is given to winner.
This is the 11th consecutive year Pool Pros has sponsored the Classic, which is the primary fundraiser for the GFMCC, also known as The Education Chamber. A portion of the proceeds from the Classic will be used for grants for area educators and educational institutions.
"As the current chairman of the Foundation, I take great pride in our board, as we continue to support education at multiple levels," added Mitchell. "We are continuing on the path the original organizers of our Chamber set forth 30 years ago."
“My children are in middle and high school in Fort Myers and it’s great to be able to provide grants to teachers who wish to enhance their classroom learning experience,” says Joe Mitchell, owner of Pool Pros, Inc. and president of the GFMCC Foundation. “In addition, we work to educate small business, and have recently launched a mentoring program, EXCELerate, through our Foundation.”
Pool Pros will enter three teams consisting of employees, clients and friends, including two former PGA golfers, George McNeill and Nolan Henke. Both pros have played for Pool Pros in all 11 of the annual golf classics. In all, the tournament challenges 132 golfers playing a four-person scramble format.
At the conclusion of the classic, Sheena Brook, a singer-songwriter who gained notoriety on The Voice, will be performing at the Eagle Reception from 5:00-7:00PM. The Eagle Reception is open to the public and tickets are $25 each, which includes one complimentary adult beverage and food provided by The Edison Restaurant. Visit FortMyers.org to make a reservation.
On the course, golfers will get to enjoy Taste of the Chamber – samples from local member restaurant – including The Standard, Bahama Breeze, Outback Steakhouse, and Texas Roadhouse. Victory Layne Chevrolet, Enterprise, and Scanlon Lexus will have unique cars on the course.
