Elijah Butcher was wired for a full life. He loved being with friends and family, his new role as a big brother, outdoor adventures, and making his parents laugh. Elijah always wanted us to be light, have fun, and love each other well. At a young age, Elijah lost his life to an unknown heart condition.
In remembrance of their oldest son, the Butchers created the Dwelling Place Project, a 501c3 corporation whose mission is to build stronger families through community and celebrate the life of Elijah Butcher.

On Saturday, November 14, 2020 from 4PM to 9PM, the Butchers will be holding their inaugural fundraising event where families are invited to partake in an evening of adventure under the stars on a private riverfront property in Alva. The event will feature a BBQ dinner, bonfire, dessert truck, live music, ax throwing, pony rides, yard games, two signature craft beers created just for the event, and more.

“I’m a big proponent of strengthening families,” said Joe Mitchell, president of Pool Pros. “So when the Butchers’ told me about the loss of their son and their plan to build a home in his name, for the benefit of the community, it touched my heart. This is definitely a project that we want to see to fruition.”
Once built, the Butchers plan to make Elijah’s House into a retreat center where families can getaway for adventure, respite, growth, and making memories. White lights everywhere, porch swings, community fire pit, big open fields for playing football, woods and a creek for exploring. Surrounding the community fire pit would be bungalows for overnight guests, thoughtfully designed with a comfortable elegance and genuine hospitality.
